Caribbean Creatives 2025: A Night of Art, Music, and Culture

On June 7, 2025, Urban Art Gallery hosted its ninth annual Caribbean Creatives Art Show &

Mixer in partnership with Erice Reid. This exhibit seeks to celebrate Caribbean and African

culture through a combination of art, music, food, and community. Additionally, all the

featured artists and musicians belong to one of the two descent groups, aiming to uplift

diasporic voices and connect cultures.

The Arts, Music, and Food Fused

The night was filled with impressive displays of talent in various ways. Fourteen artists

exhibited their work throughout the gallery. Among the mediums incorporated were

paintings, photography, mixed media, and more. Although other styles, such as graphite,

were utilized, paintings and mixed media were the primary mediums.

Music also played throughout the night outside the gallery, where performances by

Champion Sound and Lutan Fyah took place. Their selections contributed to the

atmosphere created by live reggae, which sparked energy, dancing, and a sense of

connection throughout the show. Ultimately, the community appreciated being able to

witness live music, which made the night even more memorable.

Jamaican dishes were also served throughout the event to provide convenience for

attendees, workers, artists, and performers, and to enhance the Caribbean experience we

wanted to offer. Among the delicious options were jerk chicken, oxtail, white rice, and

cabbage. Fresh coconuts were cracked open on the spot for anyone who wanted coconut

water. Finally, other beverages were served, including rum punch by Milan Morris, the

bartender for the evening.

Fostering Community Through Caribbean Culture

This year’s exhibit encapsulated all things Caribbean, creating a spirit of togetherness, joy,

and pride in culture. Attendees were able to enjoy good food, witness and listen to live

music performances, and view impressive displays of various artwork. The turnout was

terrific, with people packed at the corner of 52nd and Irving. An amazing feat to add to this

was that multiple generations were in attendance. Young children, teenagers, and adults all

contributed to the event's success.

Thank You to All Contributors!

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the

success of Caribbean Creatives 2025, starting with Erice Reid, who has been a greatpartner to collaborate with in producing Caribbean Creatives successfully this year and

over the past nine years. We appreciate all 14 artists who allowed us to decorate our walls

with their incredible work. We also want to thank all performers for the night, Lutan Fyah

and Champion Sound, for keeping the energy and vibes high throughout the night with their

selections. A special shout-out to Milan Morris for providing incredible drinks, including the

themed rum punch, and Whimsicle for providing delicious treats for our guests. Lastly, we

appreciate each person who came out to support us for the night and over the years.

Without it, we wouldn’t be able to throw events like this.
