At Urban Art Gallery, we take pride in serving various communities in Philadelphia. While we strive to bridge the gap between art and people by partnering with aspiring and established artists, we aim to do the same for kids and provide them with free programs. This initiative was demonstrated on May 24, 2025, when we wrapped up all three of our youth programs (guitar, photography, and art class). We had significant participation, with 15 kids per class, totaling 45. We serve 80 kids across all our programs, including chess and theater. The ages of our youth program participants range from 7 to 17.
Closing Show Remarks & Highlights
Some youth in each program showcased their growth from the first day of participation in their respective youth programs to the closing reception. Some program participants stood out and left a lasting impression on the audience. The photography class drew a packed crowd to their exhibit, which included a silent auction of student work that received meaningful attention and support from attendees. Students with perfect attendance were awarded gift cards.

The closing reception aimed to show the extent of learning and retention among the youth from their programs. Students performed what they learned from guitar lessons, while photography and art students displayed their work. Over 8- to 10-week periods, these students were introduced to these various art forms to enhance their skills. We anticipate programs starting back up this month, so if you have or know interested children, be on the lookout for when we open registration for our subsequent sessions on Instagram @urbanartgallery.
Thank You, Instructors, Parents, & Children!
We want to give a massive shoutout to everyone who made these programs a success, including the instructors, families, and children. The instructors worked hard preparing detailed classes to teach youth the fundamentals of various art forms. The parents put their children in a position to learn and have access to resources they may not otherwise have access to. Lastly, the children remained dedicated, took advantage of these programs, and displayed their hard work at the closing reception. None of this would have been possible without all parties, so we thank and appreciate you!
