![]() The Urban Art Gallery in Philadelphia continues to support local artists each month with a new exhibit. This month the gallery is featuring a collective of artists known as Sharp With Art Group (S.W.A.G). Rell Styles is the CEO of S.W.A.G and Garron Gibbs of ConcreteCakes.com spoke with him briefly to discuss the group, the exhibit “Levels” and the future of S.W.A.G. CC: What is Sharp With Art Group? RS: We manage visual artists and help them put together gallery exhibits and help them get jobs and commissioned work. This show “Levels” is to introduce the public to the group of artists we currently work with. CC: Who are the artists that you’re currently working with? RS: For this exhibit we have, Natalie Negron, Jae Martin, Nebulus Flair, Seven X, Noni Red and Vinson Houston. CC: Can you describe the name and the theme of the Levels exhibit? RS: When we say “Levels” we mean that there are different levels and styles of work. Our group of artists, all have different styles. You have Jae Martin, who has a “graff-stract” style that incorporates graffiti and abstract art. There’s Nebulus Flair who has a more abstract style. Noni Red has a spiritual style that emphasizes Buddhism. So we just wanted to showcase the different styles of the artists that are down with us. CC: What are your future plans? RS: We want to continue to advance onto a more mainstream level. Right now people focus on supporting local artists. But when you look at artists like KAWS who are succeeding on a national and international level, it makes us want to see our artists get to that level also.
